Royal family issues statement after King Charles’ latest outing
King Charles III undertook a landmark royal engagement in Lancaster amid protest and celebrations,.
The 76-year-old was in high spirits as he arrived at Lancaster Castle to take part in an ancient ceremony in front of John O’Gaunt gate, the anti-royal group gathered alongside royal fans to welcome the monarch.
Buckingham Palace issued update on the monarch’s visit on the royal family’s official Instagram account along with the King’s video.
The Palace wrote: “It was wonderful to meet so many members of the local community at Lancaster Castle this morning!
“The King, who is also The Duke of Lancaster, has taken part in the traditional Ceremony of the Keys at Lancaster Castle!”
The statement continued: “This tradition dates back to 1851, when the keys to the Castle were presented to Queen Victoria.
“His Majesty also met members of a Fijian Choir, formed from the First Battalion of The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment.”
During the King’s visit, a pro-royal fan confronted Republic CEO Graham Smith in a heated exchange amid their protest in Lancaster, claiming she would have “ripped” the megaphone out of his hand.
