Kaley Cuoco talks about filming sex scenes with her ex in ‘The Big Bang Theory’: “It’s a bit sensitive”
Throughout her career, Kaley Cuoco has starred in lighthearted material such as The Big Bang Theory. Her role in Flight Attendant was a major change for fans and, as it turns out, the same held true for Kaley Cuoco behind the scenes.
She especially struggled with intimate scenes, which wasn’t an issue during TBBT alongside Johnny Galecki. Cuoco was brave enough to detail her awkward intimate scene with Michiel Huisman on the series.
Let’s recap what Kaley had to say, and how it compared to her intimacy with Johnny Galecki. In truth, the experiences couldn’t be more different… Let’s take a closer look.
Kaley Cuoco Made Things Awkward During Her Intimate Scene With Michiel Huisman In Flight Attendant
Fans got to see a completely different side of Kaley Cuoco during Flight Attendant. It was also a major adjustment for the actress, who was put through scenes she wasn’t exactly comfortable with. One of those scenes took place alongside Game of Thrones star, Michiel Huisman. The two stars are from different ends of the spectrum, Kaley is more used to lighthearted scenes, while Huisman has a history of intimacy work.
Cuoco detailed with Indie Wire, “I had never done any sort of sex scene ever, and I had one in ‘Flight Attendant’ with Michiel. He’d been in ‘Game of Thrones,’ so he’d done all these scenes, and I just had no idea.”
“When they called ‘cut,’ I’d be hovering over him like I was on a toilet. I’m like, ‘I’m not touching anything, I’m not looking at anything.’ I didn’t know what to do. He was like, ‘You’re acting so weird, you’re making this way weirder than it needs to be.’ But I was totally out of my element.”
Kaley Cuoco Admits Sparks Instantly Flew After She Shared Her First Kiss With Johnny Galecki On The Big Bang Theory
It was a different reality for Kaley Cuoco on The Big Bang Theory. This time around, she actually fell in love with her co-star Johnny Galecki after the pair shared their first kiss. Recalling the incident with Today, Cuoco revealed it was obvious that sparks were flying and this time, there was no awkwardness whatsoever.
“I knew I looked real cute in that outfit, so I was feeling really good about myself,” she said with a laugh. “And I knew he thought I looked cute because he commented on how cute I looked in that outfit earlier. But I was definitely nervous before that kiss.”
“All the scenes up until we actually got together in real life, it was obvious there was always something there,” Cuoco continued. “There was chemistry and we were crushing on each other. That was the whole first season until we actually got together for real.”
Co-star Johnny Galecki also admits the sparks were from both sides.
“At that point, both she and I knew that something mutual was felt, and that it was going to be more of a distraction from the work to try and continue to ignore it than to actually recognize it and surrender to it,” he said.
Although Cuoco wanted to be open about their relationship, Galecki felt like it was best to keep things quiet, especially because of the integrity of The Big Bang Theory. The two eventually broke up, but it did not hurt the show, nor did it hurt their friendship. The two remained close until the very end.
