Kate Middleton Made It Clear to King Charles That Her Kids Would Come Before Royal Duties
As a working member of the royal family, there’s a good chance that Kate Middleton likely has to do a lot of things she’d rather not do — but if it concerns her kids, she’s willing to put her foot down. According to one royal expert, Kate has made it clear that kids George, Charlotte, and Louis always come first, and she hasn’t been afraid to push back when King Charles (and, before her death, Queen Elizabeth) may have tried to rush her where it involves her children.
Kate made it clear that she calls the shots.
As royal author Robert Jobson recently told Hello! magazine, Kate will not tolerate anyone trying to call the shots when it comes to her kids.
“With her children, she made it very clear to both the late Queen and to the Prince of Wales, as he was – now the King – that she’s not going to be rushed into doing things that she doesn’t necessarily want to do,” Robert said.
She knows there are no do-overs in motherhood.
Robert pointed out that it had to have taken a lot of “courage” for Kate to stand up to Charles and Elizabeth on the subject, but it sounds like it was definitely worth it for her.
“But I think she realizes that she only has one shot at this,” he added. “She’s got three young children, and they have to come first.”
Robert also said that Kate is feeling ‘very calm’ about her cancer treatment.
Since Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, she’s been undergoing preventative chemotherapy and limiting her public appearances as she recovers. And according to Robert, who wrote the biography Catherine: The Princess of Wales, she’s taking this scary chapter of her life “day by day.”
“She’s a person who wants to find solutions and rise above the noise and the drama, and I think, given what she’s gone through, you don’t want to waste any time on noise, on drama, when you’ve had anything to do with your health,” he told the magazine.
She reportedly knows her current downtime won’t last forever.
“Her children are very, very young. This is a time she won’t get back again,” Robert said. “The difference between her and other people is that, in your career, you may have different phases. With her career, it’s only going to get more and more official.”
We may see more of Kate soon.
Although she was MIA for most of the first half of 2024, we’ve seen her out and about more and more lately, from her outing to Wimbledon to participating in a video congratulating the British athletes who competed in the 2024 Olympic Games.
Here’s hoping she continues to feel healthier and stronger every day — and that she’s getting plenty of quality time with her kids in the meantime.
