King Charles ‘still loves’ Harry despite shock move to drop family name

Duke of Sussex had intended to end all ties to the royal family with bombshell move
King Charles is understood to be left “hurt” and “appalled” by the brutal move he had been planning secretly amid the growing rift.
The monarch, who is not on speaking terms with his estranged son due to Harry’s security legal battle, discovered that the Duke of Sussex had intended to end all ties to the royal family as he had been planning to take mother, Princess Diana’s family name, Spencer, and ditch Mountbatten-Windsor.
According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, Harry’s move had been “deeply hurtful” to his cancer-stricken father, who reportedly still holds a soft spot for him.
Royal historian Marlene Koenig explained to Us Weekly that the King not speaking to Harry was not an intentional but it was due to how the legal battle had been playing out to be. He was advised not to contact his son to avoid legal issues even if he wanted to.
“He legally couldn’t talk to him about it,” an insider had said.
The historian suggested that Charles is taking a “tough love” approach with Harry.
“Charles never stopped loving Harry, but he doesn’t want to [cause] any more tension within the family,” Marlene told the outlet. “He can’t bring his two sons together — that’s something they need to do.”
She continued, “It must be awfully painful for the king that he doesn’t see his grandchildren and that he can’t talk to his son for fear of what will happen, but he’s keeping his distance until they can find a way to talk.”
