Meghan Markle ends break-up fears with heartfelt speech to Prince Harry at Invictus Games

Meghan Markle made an emotional and unscripted speech at a private Invictus Games event, expressing her deep admiration for her husband, Prince Harry, to end fears the pair could be set to break up.
Claims throughout 2024 suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were growing apart after seven years of marriage but the 43-year-old woman crushed the murmurs with a warm speech about how the competition for wounded and disabled military veterans holds a special place in their family’s hearts.
Her touching words came shortly after she greeted Harry with a public kiss on stage, reinforcing their strong support for one another before she reflected on her personal connection to Canada, describing the country as feeling like “home.”
She and Harry previously lived on Vancouver Island after stepping back from royal duties in 2020, and she had spent years in Toronto while filming Suits, although they now live in California.
“We are just thrilled to be here,” Markle said of the Sussexes’ appearance. “And I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me. And I know he means quite a lot to all of you.
“You will see him throughout this week. You will see him at the Games. You will see him probably curling with you, cheering you on. What you won’t have seen is all of the moments that have happened in the lead-up to these Games.
“All of the moments where, as you know, with families, the big rush in the morning – getting ready for school, packing the lunch boxes, making breakfast. My husband’s in all of that with us.
“And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will say: ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ And he’s like: ‘That’s Invictus. I’m getting ready for Invictus.’
“It means so much to him. You are his family, just as we are his family, and I hope you recognize how much of his heart he has poured into every single thing that has gotten all of you to this week, which is going to be spectacular.”

Meghan and Harry’s arrival in Vancouver has drawn widespread attention as they spend three days in the city before heading to Whistler, where the winter adaptive sports portion of the Games will take place.
Despite freezing temperatures, the couple is expected to be highly engaged, continuing their hands-on support for the event.
The Invictus Games, now in its seventh edition, have attracted 500 competitors from 23 countries and the opening ceremony, featuring performances by Katy Perry and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, is set to be a grand spectacle, with a sold-out crowd of 40,000 at BC Stadium.
