Meghan Markle has shared her pregnancy cravings with renowned chef Vikram Vij during a visit to his Vancouver restaurant, according to the restaurateur. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Canada, where they celebrated the launch of the 2025 Invictus Games with a low-key meal at Vij’s, a popular Indian restaurant in downtown Vancouver.
The eatery is no stranger to Royal patrons, having previously hosted Prince William and Princess Kate. In an interview with HELLO!, Chef Vij described the couple as “amazing, extremely beautiful and very friendly”.
He also revealed that Meghan developed a taste for Indian cuisine during her pregnancies with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. “Meghan said that during her pregnancy, she had eaten only Indian food and I told her it was the best thing for her!” he shared.

Meghan, who enjoys cooking, was gifted an apron by the chef after their meeting. Meghan and Prince Harry, now residing in the US, welcomed Prince Archie in May 2019 and Princess Lilibet in June 2021, reports the Mirror. Their family also includes a Labrador named Pula and two Beagles, Guy and Mamma Mia.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony, where a body language expert told The Mirror that Meghan Markle seemed to be Prince Harry’s “cheerleader” for the event. She said: “When Meghan picked up two big blue pom-poms and danced with them above her head, it was a fitting, symbolic gesture as her body language at the games so far seems to very emphatically define her in the role of Harry’s cheerleader and number one fan,”.
She further explained that Meghan directed the audience’s attention towards Harry, creating anticipation with comments like ‘You will see him throughout the week, you will see him at the Games’. Her gestures during the opening ceremony showed contagious adoration and awe as she clung to his arm in excitement and support or gazed at his face when he was mentioned from the stage.
The expert also noted that Meghan’s gestures towards Harry were “almost maternally affectionate”. She elaborated: “As he sat looking bashful with his lips sucked in or threw a cheeky double thumbs-up during some banter from Chris Martin, Meghan performed mouth-puckered smiles of pride or ‘seal-clapped’ him to his face, a form of clapping with the hands pointing upward that registers praise and recognition.”
