Prince Harry ‘contacted Kate Middleton after leaving UK but she won’t play peacemaker’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have become estranged from the Royal Family, but that hasn't stopped the Duke of Sussex from reaching out to Kate Middleton
Prince Harry is no longer close to most of the Royal Family, but he is thought to have reached out to the Princess of Wales to try and mend their relationship, claims a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex became estranged from his family after he and Meghan Markle made the bombshell decision to step down as senior working royals. The pair have since issued a number of attacks against The Firm, which has only added to the tension.
However, it seems as though Harry is hoping to build bridges. Royal expert Tom Quinn has told The Mirror Harry has reached out to Princess Kate since he’s been living in America.
The royal author told us: “Since leaving the UK, Harry has actually contacted at least one royal: Kate.” However, he warned Harry might not receive the welcome he’s expecting.
Tom suggested: “She is sympathetic, but fully supports her husband and, struggling with her own health problems, has no intention of playing peacemaker.” Princess Kate announced in March that she is being treated for cancer and has since stepped down from public duties.
The Princess of Wales will return to work when she has had the green light from her doctors. When Kate was diagnosed with cancer, Harry and Meghan sent a supportive message. They said: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Harry could see Kate as the key to fixing his relationship with his brother Prince William, who is said to have been left upset by the Sussexes attacks on the Royal Family. During the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry accused King Charles of stopping taking his calls when he was trying to discuss stepping down as a working royal.
Harry and Meghan made further allegations in their Netflix docuseries as Harry claimed William had left him terrified after he screamed and shouted at him during the Sandringham summit. Harry also alleged members of Kensington Palace had then “lied to protect my brother”.
The Duke of Sussex also took aim at his dad, King Charles and discussed the tense Megxit crisis meeting held with the Queen in January 2020. He further took aim at the Royal Family in his memoir, Spare.
