Prince Harry is rediscovering himself years after he left the royal life to move to the U.S. with Meghan Markle.

Earlier this week, the Duke of Sussex made an unannounced solo trip to Angola, retracing the footsteps of his late mother, Princess Diana. He visited a remote village near Africa’s largest minefield, working as a patron of the landmine clearance charity, the HALO Trust.

His wife, Meghan Markle, remained in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, with sources citing security concerns for Harry travelling alone.

While Harry once embraced high-profile media deals with Netflix and Spotify, his trip signals a return to the kind of humanitarian work he’s long spoken about — and one that directly honours Diana’s mission.

“I think this is precisely the sort of work that Harry should do,” royal expert Jennie Bond told Mirror. “It is not only a hugely worthwhile cause, but it also connects him with his mother, which is something he yearns for.”

Bond added, “He is coming to recognise that the LA celebrity world is one in which he is not especially comfortable. And he seems quite willing to let Meghan take the limelight over there.”

During his latest visit, the father-of-two emphasised, “Children should never have to live in fear of playing outside or walking to school.”

Bond, who once joined Diana in Angola, said: “I think it’s brilliant that Harry is continuing her work — and keeping her memory alive.”
