Prince Harry plots UK return with ‘very low-key royal duties’ to win over British public
Prince Harry has reportedly reached out to friends in the UK
Prince Harry has reportedly reached out to his UK friends as the former working royal is said to be planning a major royal return.
The royal, who will celebrate his 40th birthday later this month, is said to have sought advice from his former advisors in how he can make a return from the United States.
Sources told the Mail on Sunday that Harry has been talking to people from “his old life” in the Firm.
Despite claiming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not seeking a permanent move back to Britain, a source claimed that Harry is turning away from Hollywood publicists.
They added: “He is clearly reaching out thinking, ‘I need to do something different because what I’m doing is clearly not working’. In short, he is rethinking the way he operates.”
Also reported by the Mail, a “friend” of Prince Harry’s cited by the publication’s source has reportedly devised a strategy outlining how Harry might start moving in UK circles again.
The source told the Mail that the friend believes that Harry could win over the British public if he moves to the UK with “zero fuss” and does “mundane” events.
Meghan Markle and Harry announced their plans to step down from royal duty back in January 2020, before moving to the US shortly after with their son. The couple have since settled in California with their five-year-old son Archie and three-year-old daughter Lilibet.
Harry and Meghan are believed to be estranged from senior royals, with the Duke said to have a particularly difficult relationship with Prince William.
Tensions between the brothers have been ongoing for some time, although they are said to have began prior to the Sussexes’ exit.
Prior to the Duke and Duchess’s 2018 wedding, Meghan is said to have had a falling out with William’s wife – and Harry’s sister-in-law – Princess Kate.
Harry has made several visits to the UK since 2020, with his most recent including him “discreetly” travelling to Norfolk to attend his uncle’s memorial service earlier this week.
The service was also attended by Prince William, but onlookers claim that William and Harry didn’t speak and remained apart.
