Prince Harry’s Shocking Ultimatum: He’ll Return to Britain, But Only Under This One Condition — Palace Also Unveils Kate Middleton’s Balmoral Plans
As Kate, Princess of Wales, and the other senior royals prepare for their Balmoral summer vacation, Prince Harry reportedly revealed he will attend his late uncle’s memorial service on one condition, a friend of the Duke’s spilled.
“In normal times, it would be unimaginable that Harry would not be there to support Jane,” the fifth in line to the throne’s pal told an outlet when mentioning Lord Robert Fellows’ upcoming memorial service. “Of course he would want to be there. It will be a huge gathering of the Spencer clan. But these are not normal times, and it may well be that everyone feels Harry’s attendance would just create too much drama. It will be very sad for him if he can’t make it.”
Lady Jane Fellows is the Duke of Sussex’s aunt, and one of the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ sisters. Lord Fellows was her longtime spouse and a former private secretary to the late Queen Elizabeth II before passing away on July 29. The ex-courtier earned notoriety for reportedly “clashing” with his “iconic” sister-in-law during her troubles with then-Prince Charles in the 1990s.
Harry’s demand for a drama-less gathering comes as King Charles III seems to have “finally” joined the other senior royals in pretending that Prince Harry does not exist.
“Prince Harry’s relationship with his father has deteriorated to a new low level,” a source spilled.
Although Harry is bogged down in a bitter feud with nearly all of his family, it is suggested the only senior royal he (at one time recently) communicated with was Charles III. The monarch even decided to meet with his youngest son back in February, one day after his cancer diagnosis was made public. Some reports suggest the pair only met for 12 minutes, and the King declined to see his rebel son again when the Duke visited Britain on May 8 for an Invictus Games event.
The fifth in line to the throne is said to be “adamant” in his determination to get in touch with his father, as he reportedly feels that both he and his family could be in danger.
“Harry is frightened and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his father,” a Sussex source spilled to an outlet.
Another source came forward and stated: “Harry is determined to protect his own family at all costs.”
The King and his “spare” are allegedly “at loggerheads over Harry’s security requests and are no longer communicating,” before revealing: “Harry has genuine security concerns about the safety of his family in light of his mother’s death and feels that his father can help him in his ongoing battle with RAVEC (the entity that oversees security).”
Royal security is tied to the annual Sovereign Grant, and administered by the government. As a hereditary monarch, King Charles cannot compel the elected British government to take action solely because Harry needs something.
The monarch, Queen Camilla and other invited royals, will vacation at Balmoral Castle until late September or early October.
