Prince William and Kate Middleton eye U.S. charity launch amid mental health focus
Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton have once again caught the attention of the United States, as they re-apply for US trademarks for their Royal Foundation. This could be a hint that they are considering launching a charity across the Atlantic in the future. The focus of this potential initiative is on mental health, and it seems like there are plans for charity fun runs or races in support of mental health, as indicated by the request to the US Patent and Trademark Office for trademarks related to “printed race numbers, clothing, footwear, headgear.”
Despite this exciting news, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes that we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves. Speaking exclusively to OK!, she shared, “I don’t think we should read too much into this, as it has been suggested this is more a case of housekeeping – probably keeping the application within its legal time limits or something similar.” She also added, “There doesn’t seem to be any imminent move to launch an American initiative.”
Jennie does acknowledge that the fact that they want to keep the application viable suggests that there may be new plans in the future. She says, “But the very fact that they want to keep the application viable does suggest that, looking to the future, there may be new plans afoot,” while also adding a note of caution.
“And that of course is positive. I certainly wouldn’t want to put any kind of spin on the interest in moving into America. We shouldn’t try to set up imaginary rivalries between William and Catherine /Harry and Meghan. They’ve got enough problems without us adding more unfounded speculation.”
