Prince William and Kate Middleton Want a Truce With Prince Harry “For the Kids”
Harry’s upcoming visit to the U.K. may play a vital role in mending the royal rift.
The 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games will see Prince Harry return to the U.K. this month, and while it certainly serves as a major milestone, it could potentially mark a turning point in his relationship with Prince William and Kate Middleton, too.
According to Us Weekly, Harry and William “haven’t had a real conversation in months,” but his time in England has the opportunity to turn things around. “The brothers haven’t spoken [but] there is potential for that. [Harry] would be more than happy [to],” the outlet’s insider said, adding that Harry attempted to reach out to the royal family and invite them to the Invictus Games.
The royal family’s recent health challenges appear to be the catalyst for the brothers being “open” to seeing each other again and wanting to bury the hatchet. Their father, King Charles, and Middleton are both battling cancer, with the princess being “willing” to talk to Harry—per Us’ source, she wants to be “done with all the bad blood.”
The young children are also a large motivator behind the Prince and Princess of Wales wanting to call a truce. “They want a relationship with Meghan and Harry, and they don’t want the acrimony to carry over to the next generation … they want to mend fences with them for the kids’ sake,” the source explained, discussing their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis and their relationship—or current lack thereof—with Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet.
A separate source agreed, adding, “Obviously, the duke and duchess want their kids to have a relationship with their cousins.” And, of course, Charles is eager for the feud to come to an end, too, as he’s “eager to spend more time with his grandchildren.”
