Prince William and Kate Will Never Forgive Meghan for This Past Betrayal
Prince William and Kate Middleton are the faces of the royal family. The Prince and Princess of Wales are getting ready to take the throne, but their tension with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle still remains top of mind for many people.
There have been rumors that the two couples could eventually reconcile, but with each passing day, the expectation there gets smaller and smaller. And one royal expert says there is one key reason William and Kate won’t be quick to forgive Harry and Meghan — and it has to do with a damaging behavior of Meghan’s from years ago.
Meghan Markle’s joke of a curtsy was too much for William and Kate
There are a number of things that the royals are unhappy about when it comes to their relationship with Harry and Meghan, but the couple’s decision to leave the royal family is reportedly not what caused such a difficult divide. Rather, it’s the way Harry and Meghan talked about the family after their departure.
Harry and Meghan’s Netflix special was just one of many interviews the two did that trashed their time in the family. The first came during their Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021, and the six-part Netflix series was later followed by Prince Harry’s memoir. But it was Meghan’s mocking of the curtsy that she did in the Netflix special — the infamous one that made fun of the concept — that reportedly has made William and Kate incapable of forgiveness.
“After everything Harry and Meghan have done with the Oprah Winfrey interview, that Netflix show… ‘Spare.’ The flamboyant curtsey by Meghan on the show as well,” Charles Rae, a former royal correspondent, told the Sun. “There’s too much gone under the bridge now. If they’re going to make the move, I am not so sure William and Catherine would respond favorably.”
A reconciliation among the Sussex and Wales couples is still possible
Although it seems unlikely, it doesn’t mean that Harry and Meghan can’t make amends with William and Kate. The current problem is that both sides believe the other couple is in the wrong, and that will prevent either one from wanting a reconciliation. From what’s understood, both want an apology.
The best move at this point is for the couples to each accept some kind of responsibility; however, it’s hard to imagine either side apologizes for things they feel they didn’t commit. King Charles has tried to mend the gap, but he’s done so unsuccessfully. Although Charles and Harry do have somewhat of a relationship, it hasn’t helped bring Harry and William any closer.
