Trouble seems to brewing behind the scenes as Prince William, King Charles put joint front for public
King Charles and Prince William have been putting up a strong front for the public as they continue to serve the monarchy.
The Prince of Wales, who is quietly being prepared for his destined role on the throne, received a major honour from the monarch in an historic ceremony.
The father and son made a joint appearance at the Order of the Bath service at Westminster Abbey to mark 300th anniversary of the order, as William was installed as the Great Master.
However, onlookers noted that William did not seem to be thrilled about the event. Speculation over tensions also emerged as the King had abruptly decided to “postpone” the “authority to grant royal warrants”.
Moreover, there is also chatter about the very different ideas William has for his own reign compared to Charles.
“This is exactly the kind of medieval cosplay William thinks is ridiculous,” a friend of William told The Daily Beast about the ceremony.
“He understands and respects tradition, but this kind of event is hardly telegraphing a monarchy which is modern and relevant.”
Previously, the future king expressed his desire to get rid of pomp and show of royals in November last year.
“I can only describe what I’m trying to do and that’s trying to do it differently and I’m trying to do it for my generation. I’m doing it with maybe a smaller r in the royal.”
Although a source close to William dismissed claims that he had reservations about the Order of the Bath service.
