Prince William & Kate Middleton Miss BAFTAs 1 Month After Princess Announces Cancer Remission

wo people who will be missing from the BAFTA Awards at London’s Royal Festival Hall on February 16 are Prince William and Kate Middleton. The couple planned a family holiday in the Caribbean, thus causing them to miss the awards show, per the Daily Mail.
A source told the outlet that the Prince and Princess of Wales along with their three children flew in to Saint Lucia before taking a private jet to Mustique. The island is privately owned and has been a popular vacation spot for the royal family for years.
The family getaway comes just one month after Kate confirmed that her cancer was in remission.
Prince William & Kate Middleton Attended the BAFTAs Previously

The BAFTAs have been a staple for the Prince and Princess of Wales, as William has served as the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010. It’s the one awards show that the couple regularly attends.
The two attended the BAFTAs together in 2023, making a splash on the red carpet. The following year, William attended the event solo — as his wife had been undergoing chemotherapy.
“I’m sorry Catherine’s not here. She does love the BAFTAs,” he told chief executive of the Southbank Centre Elaine Bedell at the time, per People.
This year’s event would have marked Kate’s first official red carpet since her cancer diagnosis and treatment. However, the family had planned their trip to the Caribbean islands, keeping them from attending.
Kate Middleton Shared Her Cancer Diagnosis in 2024
In early 2024, concerns grew for Kate, who had been missing from the public eye. In January, Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess of Wales underwent “planned abdominal surgery,” though did not detail the need for the operation.
In March 2024, Kate shared a candid video on social media in which she revealed that she’d been undergoing chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis. She did not share additional details about the type of cancer she had or the pathology.
Less than a year later, Kate said that she was in remission.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she wrote on X on January 14, 2025.
