Princess Kate is ‘reaching out to Meghan Markle’ – but they ‘will never be friends’ – source claims
Although Catherine and Meghan Markle will never be friends, a source claims that the Princess of Wales is thinking about contacting the Duchess of Sussex.
Following the Duchess of Sussex’s resignation as a working royal in 2020 and subsequent public jabs at the monarchy in television interviews, Meghan and Catherine have not spoken for a number of years.
After undergoing major abdominal surgery at the beginning of the year, Princess Kate had a challenging 2024 when tests revealed that she had cancer.
After completing a course of preventative chemotherapy, the royal declared in September that her treatment was over.
According to a source, Catherine now wishes to mend her own rift with Meghan and the conflict between her husband Prince William and Prince Harry.
An insider told Closer: “With all the water under the bridge and everything she’s been through this past year, she’s come to a place where she wants peace in every aspect of her life.”
“Not just for herself, but for the sake of William and Harry, she’s very worried about what this long-running feud is doing to the both of them.”
A second source stated: “This isn’t so much about wanting to be friends with Meghan – that’s never going to happen.”
They added: “A lot of people still think Kate would be justified to hang onto a grudge after the way Meghan has behaved, but she has no interest in that.”
“Sure, there were hurt feelings a while ago but she’s ready to let it go – time has been a great healer.”
Since attending Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, Meghan Markle has not visited the United Kingdom.
In May 2023, the Duchess of Sussex chose not to go to King Charles’ coronation.
Over the past two years, Prince Harry has made multiple trips back to the UK while making solo appearances without his spouse.
The newspaper group’s barrister is expected to cross-examine the Duke of Sussex in the witness box for up to four days when he travels to the UK in the upcoming weeks.
The Duke will be appearing in court for the second time after testifying before the same judge in 2023 in a successful case against Mirror Group Newspapers for phone hacking.
The Duke will be questioned regarding his allegations that he was the victim of illegal information gathering by News Group Newspapers publications.
All wrongdoing is denied by News Group Newspapers. January 20 is when the trial is expected to start.
