Princess Kate’s ‘secret weapons’ during her cancer battle
Following the news Kate has finished her chemotherapy treatment, her parents have been a source of strength, says expert
A royal expert believes Princess Kate’s parents have been a great source of strength during her cancer battle, as the Princess of Wales confirms she has officially finished her chemotherapy treatment.
During these testing and difficult months, Carole and Michael Middleton have supported the Princess of Wales and even appeared in a recent heartfelt video released by Kensington Palace, documenting Kate’s recovery.
The video of the Waleses provided a snapshot of the family’s life at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, while a heartfelt voiceover from Kate played over the top.
She said: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family..”
Kate’s parents made an appearance in the video which showed the couple playing a card game with the family. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond described the interaction with OK! Magazine: “I don’t think it was any coincidence that after she talked about loving and being loved we immediately saw footage of her parents joining in a fun card game.”

Kate has officially finished her chemotherapy treatment
Speaking about Kate’s parents, Jennie said: “They are quite obviously an integral part of the family and have undoubtedly been a source of enormous strength for Catherine through these past difficult months.”
She added: “I always feel for Carole and Mike in all this, because this is their little girl who is facing a shocking and life-changing illness. While Catherine has been worrying about her own children, the Middletons have, I’m sure, been worrying about their darling daughter – as well as their grandchildren.”
The former royal correspondent also described the relationship Prince William has with Kate’s side of the family, explaining he can “relax” and “be himself” in their company.
Although Kate’s bother James and sister Pippa did not make an appearance in the footage, the royal expert stressed they were all a “tight family unit”.
Pippa Middleton was also spotted alongside Kate and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, during the Wimbledon Men’s Final this summer – Kate’s second official public appearance of the year.
In the video, which showed snippets of the family’s summer holiday, The Princess of Wales gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at family life with Prince William and their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The video comes just six months after Kate released a video from Windsor Castle where the princess announced she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing treatment.
The footage, which runs for just three minutes, was shot by Will Warr at the Wales’ Norfolk home last month.
Keeping a positive tone, the video features a joyful atmosphere, with plenty of laughter and playful scenes conveying the hope and enthusiasm Kate has for the future that lies ahead of her.
The theme of nature, also shown in the recent video, had previously featured in an earlier update on Kate’s health back in June when she told the public that she had “experienced both good days and bad days” and added that she was “not out of the woods yet.”
