Queen Camilla, King Charles shine at royal reception in Rome

Queen Camilla and King Charles were the epitome of elegance and charm as they attended a vibrant reception for the British-Italian community in Rome.

The royal couple, both in their 70s, exuded warmth and enthusiasm as they mingled with and laughed with guests at the British ambassador’s residence, Villa Wolkonsky.

Queen shone in a stunning bright green silk crepe dress designed by Anna Valentine, complemented by a historic brooch that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II.

The brooch, a diamond-set Celtic knot design surrounding a cabochon emerald, is a royal heirloom with a rich history, dating back to 1893 when it was given to Queen Mary of Teck as a wedding gift from Tsar Nicholas II of Russia.

King Charles, dressed in a dashing blue pinstripe suit, joined in the merriment, joking with guests about the inevitability of aging.

When one guest mentioned meeting him years ago when they both had brown hair, the King playfully responded, “Didn’t we all,” gesturing to his white hair.

The royal couple’s evening was filled with warmth and joy, coinciding with their 20th wedding anniversary.

To mark the occasion, they shared three photos from their Italian villa, offering a glimpse into their life together.

Earlier in the day, the King and Queen visited the iconic Colosseum, where they were greeted by cheering crowds and enthusiastic schoolchildren.

As they explored the ancient amphitheater, they took time to shake hands with the public and appreciate the stunning views.

“The views are beautiful, beautiful,” remarked Queen Camilla, while King Charles praised the restoration work, saying it was “brilliant.”
