Royal Family faces major setback after Prince Andrew’s spy drama

King Charles risks another scandal after Prince Harry’s latest blunder

The Royal Family had to face a fair share of setbacks in the past year especially when it came to Prince Andrew and his slew of scandal.
The latest scandal which rocked King Charles was the Chinese spy scandal which led to the involvement of MI5 as it became a matter of national security.
Now, as the King, amid his weekly cancer treatments, focussed on bringing the focus back to matters concerning his monarchy, he was hit with a new issue after his estranged son’s shocking move.
King Charles and Prince Harry are currently not on speaking terms despite the Duke of Sussex’s pleas for a reconciliation. However, as the King embarked on his official visit to Canada, Harry made a surprise appearance in China for his sustainable travel business, Travelyst.
Royal Editor at The Sun, Matt Wilkinson noted that Royals, diplomats and UK politicians avoid China so Harry’s appearance appear odd.
Bronte Coy, royal correspondent at News.com.au shared that the timing was “interesting” as it became a clear indication of the separation between the Sussexes and the royals.
“Turning up in China was interesting at this point for Harry as part of the eco-tourism initiative that he pushes,” Coy said, noting Harry is the co-founder and he spoke in that capacity in China.
However, she noted that the royals don’t turn up in China very often. Princess Anne visited it few years back once and Prince William did it in 2015 and it came at a time when the UK government was pushing for investment in the country.
Wilkinson the pointed out that while Prince Harry has gone abroad and “not representing the UK government” but people often “misunderstand” that.
“They’ll see prince out there in China and think ‘oh there’s some kind of royal rubber stamping on China’,” he continued.
“One thing that jumped out to me was, obviously, Prince Andrew had his spy drama incident lately I would have thought if you sat down with harry you would avoid China.”
The royal editor implied that the royal family would have to deal with another setback if something comes up, especially given that Harry is no longer a working member.
It remains to be see how that pans out for the rift between Prince Harry and King Charles.
