Watch This ‘Spectacular’ Soulful Singer Win Over the ‘America’s Got Talent’ Judges With an Aretha Franklin Song
19-year-old Brooke Bailey gets four yeses for her 'AGT' audition of "Ain't No Way" by Aretha Franklin
If there had been a Golden Buzzer left for Season 19 of America’s Got Talent, 19-year-old Brooke Bailey from Granada Hills, Calif., may have been awarded one for her soulful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way.”
Unfortunately, Sofia Vergara used the final AGT Golden Buzzer last week, so Brooke had to settle for four yeses from the judges and hope that she makes it through the Judges Cuts to the Live Shows for America’s vote. But her performance was awesome enough that that should be a sure thing.
Watch this early release video of Bailey’s upcoming Tuesday night performance.
The College of the Canyons music major was a little nervous when she took the stage, but she overcame her nerves to wow the judges.
“You had me right at the beginning where you went ‘Mm mm mm,’” Heidi Klum told her. “You really do belong on the stage. My favorite audition of the day.”
Howie Mandel agreed, pointing out, “You have an amazing instrument. Your voice is really good. You’re a really good singer. I think you have a future ahead of you. I really liked you.”
“The way you sing, the feeling that you put into the song, it’s spectacular,” Sofia added.
The final critique for the Planet Fitness employee who was pretty in pink came from Simon Cowell.
“For you to manage what you’re doing with a job to do something you love is incredible actually,” he said. “What I would say, if you go any further, I would definitely have a band behind you because I think you’re the kind of artist who would be best where you don’t have the structure of a backing track. And I really like you as a person.”
America’s Got Talent airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Streams next day on Peacock.
