The Prince and Princess of Wales thrilled royal watchers on Saturday as they stepped out with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louisfor Trooping the Colour, one of the most anticipated events on the royal calendar.

While the young royals were pictured beaming alongside their mother, Princess Kate, during the grand procession and later waving to the crowds from the Buckingham Palace balcony during the RAF flypast, there were notable moments when the children appeared without their parents.

As Prince William fulfilled his ceremonial duties on horseback at Horse Guards Parade, many observers were left wondering who keeps an eye on the royal trio during such high-profile moments?

Enter Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo the family’s trusted nanny. A discreet but vital presence in the lives of the Wales children, she has been a steady figure behind the scenes since 2014.

Originally from Spain, Maria is a graduate of the world-renowned Norland College in Bath, an elite institution famed for producing nannies to high profile families.

Norland graduates, instantly recognisable by their signature light brown uniforms and matching hats, are rigorously trained in everything from early childhood education to advanced security awareness.

Her day to day responsibilities go far beyond simply supervising the children.

According to fellow Norland nanny Louenna Hood, her role includes preparing meals, coordinating school drop offs and pick ups, ensuring every item of clothing and footwear fits perfectly and is properly labelled.

She also supports the children’s learning, making homework sessions both educational and enjoyable.

As Hood explained to HELLO!, “A nanny will also be expected to support each child with their homework and make it as fun and interesting as possible.”
