Why Days Of Our Lives Leo Stark Is The Best Character In Daytime Soaps
Days Of Our Lives Leo Stark, played by the immensely talented Greg Rikaart, first burst onto the Salem scene in March of 2018 when he was hired by Vivian Alamain to seduce Sonny Kiriakis, hopefully resulting in a scandal and forcing Sonny out of his position as CEO at Titan. The scheme ultimately backfired, eventually leading to Leo’s untimely (and unsuccessful) death.
Days Of Our Life Spoilers – Leo Stark Is The Best
Originally the DOOL writers had no plans of reprising the role, but the overwhelming response could not be ignored. Fans could not get enough of the dastardly, sinister, yet undeniably charming and witty, Leo Stark.
The character would return for a four-month stint later that winter, appear in both Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem and Days of Our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas, and finally return to Salem for good in 2022 where, much to viewers’ delight, he has remained ever since.
DOOL Spoilers – An Impressive Roster Of Outstanding Villains Over The Years.
From Days Of Our Lives Stefano to Victor, Vivian to Kristin, from Sami to EJ, and even from Larry to Clyde there have been hosts of antagonists from all walks of life. But none have brought more fun and excitement to the small screen than Leo Stark.
As the first gay villain (and as of the time of this publishing, the only gay villain) in daytime television, Leo brings something new and refreshing to both character archetypes.
He is able to provide fresh and fun layers to the tired stereotypes we have seen played out in both roles for decades.
Days Of Our Life Spoilers – Greg Rikaart Does Justice To His Role
Rikaart’s natural quick wit and perfectly executed comedic timing brings out a natural charm to Leo’s character that you can’t help but root for.
The undeniable chemistry Leo has with absolutely every character with whom he shares the screen also cannot be ignored.
It is clear Rikaart loves playing this character and the energy of even the most subdued costar immediately skyrockets whenever they play opposite him.
Every scene with Leo feels fun! No matter how sad, serious, or outright ridiculous the subject of the scene, you know the actors filming are having a blast if Leo is in the mix!
And still yet, Leo is a character you sympathize with. He makes mistakes. A lot of them. He hurts people. Someone he even hurts the people he cares most about.
But all he really wants is to be loved. And isn’t that what we all want? We feel for Leo because deep down, there’s a little Leo in all of us.
Somebody please give Days Of Our Lives Greg Rikaart an Emmy for this role!
