AN image of the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged father having sex with a girl who appears underage is among his alleged child abuse picture stash.
The revelation came as Meghan said she had been told “troubling and disturbing” claims about Thomas Markle Snr in 2018.
She said police spoke to her soon after she married Prince Harry, and showed her a letter they received.
A close friend of Meghan said she is “relieved” that her father is finally being properly investigated.
Referring to The Sun’s world exclusive yesterday, the friend added: “She does want to acknowledge and thank The Sun for shining a light on the issues and helping bring the protection of children into sharper focus.”
The Met Police yesterday said they could find no record of the letter, but The Sun has seen a copy and is aware of its damaging contents.
Markle Snr’s son Thomas Jnr — Meghan’s step-brother — yesterday handed over to police four large boxes from his dad’s home.
The 60-year-old had lived a few hundred yards away from his 82-year-old father – who he cared for in Cebu City in the Philippines.
The alleged stash of child abuse images included an old 35mm film negative showing a bearded man identified as Thomas Markle Snr on a bed with an Asian girl.
Another image shows the same man, in his late 40s or early 50s, slightly obscured by the girl’s arm.
Thomas Jnr, 60, spent more than nine hours formally submitting the material, which he said contained “hundreds, if not thousands” of obscene images.
Markle Snr slammed the allegations in our exclusive as “sick lies”. But last night his son hit back: “The piles of evidence I’ve taken to the police today will reveal the truth.”
A vast hoard of evidence against accused Thomas Markle Snr including VHS tapes, DVDs and photographic negatives was laid bare yesterday as it was removed by detectives.
Three officers were needed to lift some of the four large cardboard boxes packed with material retrieved from the former home of the Duchess of Sussex’s estranged dad.
The haul filled the entire boot of a black Toyota HiAce people carrier which collected it from experienced photographer Thomas Snr’s son Thomas Jnr under legal supervision early yesterday.
Thomas Jnr said later: “I’m determined to cooperate . . . I’m ready to help the inquiry in any way I can.”
Thousands of items linked to retired Hollywood technician Markle Snr — who processed his own camera films — were catalogued in a lengthy inventory compiled by lawyers for submission to police child protection investigators.
And a carefully compiled log revealed the many computer files, cameras, CDs, books and film negatives already known to have been infested with child abuse content.
Thomas Jnr, 60, accompanied lawyers as the Toyota ferried the mass of evidence through the gates of a police headquarters in Cebu City in the Philippines at 9.50am yesterday (2.50am UK time).
He was required to sign declarations and a further supplementary sworn statement after his initial affidavit triggered the police investigation on Thursday.
The laborious process of cataloguing lasted the whole day as Thomas was required to witness and sign documents listing every item that had been packed into the large cardboard containers.
Darkness had fallen before the once-devoted son appeared, looking fraught and exhausted, after the day-long procedure which was overseen by a police colonel.
Among the sickening hoard was an image of Meghan’s father having sex with a young girl who appears to be a child.
It was found on an old 35mm film negative and shows a bearded man identified as Thomas Markle Snr, then in his late 40s or early 50s, reclining on a bed with a slim Asian girl on top of him.
Another photograph on the same developed film negatives showed the same naked man slightly obscured by the arm of the same person as they lay on a bed.
Other images discovered between the pages of an antique book called Lewis Carroll Photographs of Children: Four Nude Studies show two naked schoolgirls. Among other items seized was the book Hollywood Lolitas: The Nymphet Syndrome in the Movies.
The paperback is described as a “portrait gallery of the cinema’s most famous nymphettes”.
The bombshell discoveries were among a trove of “hundreds, if not thousands” of obscene images handed to police now actively investigating the award-winning former Hollywood lighting director.
A source in Cebu City said yesterday: “The man has been positively identified as Markle Snr. It’s difficult to pin down her age owing to the grainy quality of the image available so far but she is clearly a slim young dark-haired Asian girl and they are engaged in a sex act.
“Other images on other 35mm film found in the pages of the same book show the same girl in a red vest top and knickers.”
The image is not the only alleged evidence said to link 82-year-old Markle Snr to the stash containing appalling child sex images found on computer hard drives, DVDs, cameras and small, removal flash memory cards known as SD, or secure digital, cards. His full CV appears on one hard drive packed with horrifying child sex content along with a number linked to his San Diego mobile number.
Thomas Markle Jnr revealed his father was an expert technician who processed his own colour 35mm film in darkrooms at home.
Other books found in the boxes containing lifelong photography enthusiast Thomas Snr’s most treasured family keepsakes included arty picture books.
Forensic teams and computer analysts from the Women and Children Protection Centre attached to the national police force were standing by to examine the stash. But their work with a special task force now assigned to the Markle case will not begin until Thomas Jnr submits a final sworn statement next week authorising the search.
He told The Sun as he left the signing session: “I’m completely frazzled and baffled by some of these procedures but I’m determined to co-operate.
“Once we clear the final hurdle next week, forensic teams will move in and do what they have to do. It could take weeks or even months before they go through it all but I found enough in one day to tell me all I needed to know. And I’m ready to help the inquiry in any way I can.”
The probe was triggered after Markle Jnr stumbled upon an old mobile phone of his father’s.
He later told friends he was horrified to see a video of naked children flash up on the screen after turning on the LG device.
The sickening footage, 15 minutes in all, appeared to show sex acts involving children, some of them thought to be as young as ten.
Markle Jnr said he also discovered three separate images of naked or scantily clad girls of a similar age. Another image alleged to have been found on the phone was a photo taken of the screen of a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop.
Markle Jnr says he recognised the room in the picture as his dad’s former home in Rosarito, Mexico.
Markle Snr had moved to the coastal city of Cebu in 2025.
At the time it was reported that he was looking for a quieter life.
But the area has a reputation for human trafficking networks and sex tourism which sees locals exploited by foreign predators. The Sun last night approached Thomas Markle Snr for comment.
