Prince William Gives an Update on Princess Kate’s Health Amid Her Cancer Treatment

He shared the news with a concerned fan of the royals

Prince William touched on Princess Kate’s progress as she continues to undergo preventative chemotherapy to treat her cancer.

While carrying out engagements in Newcastle on Tuesday, the royal greeted well-wishers after visiting suicide prevention charity James’ Place Newcastle. An Instagram clip shared by @walesvideos captured an interaction between William and one such supporter.

“Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?” the woman asked the prince.

“We’re all doing well, thank you,” William said.

She asked further, “And obviously Catherine?”

“We’re all doing well,” the royal reiterated.

Kate announced she had been diagnosed with cancer in a personal video posted to social media on March 22, following a months-long absence from the public eye after undergoing abdominal surgery in mid-January.

“The surgery was successful; however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” the Princess of Wales said in the video.

“This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she continued. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay. As I’ve said to them, I am well, and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal, in my mind, body, and spirits.”

At the time, a source told Harper’s Bazaar the princess was “in good spirits.”

“The princess will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team,” the insider said, adding that William would “continue to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since the start of the year.”
