Princess Kate’s easy trick to look elegant while drinking – ‘she knows what she’s doing’

The Princess of Wales has a special trick that makes her look elegant whenever she is drinking. As most people would agree having your picture taken while eating or drinking isn’t exactly ideal, but for Princess Catherine, as the a senior member of the royal family, that’s something she cannot avoid. The future queen always has eyes on her and that means getting pictured even in the most inconvient situations. That being sad, she handles it very well and manages to look elegant at pretty much every angle, even mid-drink, and while it might luck, apparently the Princess “knows exactly” what she’s doing.
In episode 3 of Channel 5’s series, Buckingham Palace: A Year in the Life, one of Britain’s leading etiquette experts, Laura Windsor, revealed Kate’s smart hack and it couldn’t be easier. She said: “When you’re drinking tea, try and look inside the cup because it looks more elegant. There’s nothing worse than sipping your tea with googly eyes”.
She further explained: “So always look into the cup and Princess Catherine does this beautifully. She looks inside the cup, she knows exactly what she’s doing and that is all about elegance.”
And it’s not just tea that Catherine does this with. She has been spotted looking into inside wine and champagne glasses, as well as keeping her eyes inside the glass of a smoothie during appeances and engagements.
While there might be times that Catherine doesn’t use the discreet method, it is fair to say that she’s been able to master looking sophisticated both in real life and pictures at every occassion. She also once recieved wise advice from the late Prince Philip that most likely has supported her throughout her role.
He reportedly told her, “‘If you believe the attention is for you personally’, he warned her, ‘you’re going to end up in trouble. The attention is for your role, what you do, what you’re supporting.”

“It isn’t for you as an individual. You are not a celebrity. You are representing the royal family. That’s all. Don’t look at the camera,” he added, as per his biographer Gyles Brandreth. “The Queen never looks at the camera. Never. Look at who you’re talking to.”
